My Phone Doesn't Have Water Damage!

My phone doesn't have water damage! This is a comment we get sometimes when we have to reject a phone from payment because a cell phone water indication sticker is red (indicating water damage). The statement is generally followed by something like - this site is a scam and your are trying to rip me off!. Sometimes the language is not as nice. This post will tell you how to check BEFORE you send in your phone to see if your phone might have, or indicate that it has, water damage. If so, don't send us your phone because we won't pay for it and we don't want to get you angry. The picture on the right shows water indicator stickers on a battery and a phone that are both red indicating water damage.

Actually, it is understandable that some people get angry when they get a message saying that their phone has water damage because the phone might work fine and it may never have been exposed to much water. Some phones are really sensitive and may indicate water damage after being in the bathroom during a steamy shower or a pocket during a heavy rain or.....

We recently updated our web site (www.SellYourCell.com) to include pictures of what causes us to reject a phone for water damage. Most cell phones and batteries have stickers that indicate water damage when they turn red. The phone sticker is usually located under the battery. If the sticker is red or missing we need to reject the phone. Sometimes the phone works fine but we can not resell a phone with a red sticker because if it stops working for any reason, the buyer will think we sold them a water damaged phone. Also, water damage doesn't automatically cause a phone to malfunction but can over time.

There are more (and larger) pictures on the customer information page of SellYourCell.com you get to once you decide to sell a phone to us. Please check them out (click on "water damage" link) and don't send us a phone that is missing its water damage sticker or that has a red water damage sticker. We don't make money rejecting phones. We only make money if we have a phone we can resell. And...we don't want to get nasty emails!

note: If we reject a cell phone the seller, we will return it to the seller if they send us money for postage and handling. We already paid postage to receive the phone.
